Report Your Accident Immediately

To avoid this it is important to alert a staff member to the fall and request that an incident report be completed. If the fall occurs outside or in an area where it may not be practical to immediately alert someone, make sure that you contact the owner of the area as soon as possible and report what happened. MacIsaac Gow LLP can help you with this and ensure that the proper parties are identified and that the details of the fall are properly recorded.
Further, there are strict timelines that must be adhered to if you have been involved in a fall. As of January 21, 2021, written notice is required for claims pertaining to injuries that were caused by snow and ice. If these injuries were sustained on a municipal sidewalk or walkway, this notice must be provided within 10 days after the injury has occurred. If an action is against a property owner or maintenance contractor, written notice of the claim must be provided within 60 days after the injury has occurred.
